In recent years, the global wellness tourism industry has experienced a transformative shift, driven by the growing desire for spiritual experiences and holistic well-being, particularly after the pandemic.

According to The Hotel Conversation, citing Colliers’ Wellness Tourism Research Report, the pandemic has led to a surge in spiritual tourism and a heightened focus on mental and physical wellbeing. In fact, Karen Wales, the national director of Asia Pacific hotels transaction services at Colliers, predicts that “international wellness tourism [will] grow 12 percent annually over the next seven years.”

The report published by the Global Wellness Institute concurred, noting that the “world wellness economy is [presently] worth USD4.4 trillion and [forecasted] to reach USD7 trillion by 2025.”

The allure of wellness tourism in the Asia Pacific region has grown exponentially over the years. Cambodia, with its ancient traditions, meditation practices, and natural beauty, is an emerging player in the region’s wellness tourism landscape.

Both SCMP and Luxury Travel Magazine have even named Cambodia among the top trending spa and wellness destinations for the year. From tranquil seaside retreats to lush jungle hideaways, Cambodia’s spa and wellness destinations cater to diverse preferences, ensuring a rejuvenating experience that harmonises mind, body, and spirit.

Moreover, its growing wellness real estate sector provides an opportunity for individuals to reside in environments that promote overall wellbeing, encompassing aspects such as leisure, senior living, and health. The integration of wellness-focused elements into real estate offerings reflects the country’s commitment to nurturing a holistic lifestyle.
